Put both rewards on a comparable basis
A points total and a cash-back amount are different units. For a useful comparison, multiply points by an explicit expected redemption value, then compare estimated dollars after fees. Point value depends on the redemption option; a larger points balance alone does not establish greater value.
A point-value example
Hypothetical alternatives: $250 in cash back, or 20,000 points, with no bonuses, benefits or fees.
At an assumed 1¢ per point, 20,000 points represent $200, so the cash-back alternative is $50 ahead.
At an assumed 1.5¢ per point, the points represent $300, putting the points alternative $50 ahead. That higher valuation is an illustration, not a promised redemption rate.
Subtract costs and check your redemption plan
If only the points card had a $95 annual fee, its $300 illustrated reward value would become $205 after the fee. That would trail $250 from a no-fee cash-back card before considering other benefits. Use a redemption value consistent with options you expect to use, and check current program terms and any additional redemption costs.
Understand MyCardTailor's assumptions
The calculator uses 1¢ per point for non-Bilt points and miles as a standard comparison assumption. Bilt has its own editable valuation and restricted-Cash model. These estimated values are not promises of cash withdrawal or transfer-redemption value. See the point valuation methodology and Bilt sources.
Choose how results are ordered
Dollar value only ranks all included cards by estimated net dollars. Prefer broad transfers prioritizes standalone transfer programs, so a lower-dollar card may appear first. That preference does not add a made-up monetary premium to its points.
These comparisons assume you pay in full and exclude interest and unentered costs. The CFPB explains that, when a card offers a purchase grace period and you are not carrying a balance, paying the balance in full by the due date can avoid purchase interest. See its credit card grace-period explanation. Rewards estimates do not assess affordability or approval.
Try it with your own spending
Use the credit card rewards calculator to compare the included cards. Choose Dollar value only to order cash-back and travel cards together by estimated net dollars. Each of the top three cards is an alternative, not a combined wallet.
